Mirtemir (1910-1978)

Mirtemir Tursunov was born in 1910 in the famous village Ikon in Turkistan. He came to Tashkent in the 20s, later he announced his first poem "Tanburim tovushi" (The sound of my tanbur) and collections just there. Mirtemir's poems have become people's songs. "Yali-yali", "Meni yod et" (Remember me), "Deydilar-ki shahrimda bir guzal bor emish" (They say there is a beauty in my town), "Bitta o'zim bilaman" (I know only myself), and others are distinguished to show widely a human's soul.

Mirtemir's poems "Kipriklarim" (My eyelashes), "Men seni…" (I … you) and a legendary tale "Surat" (The Picture) which were included into the collection "Notebook of Karakalpak" were greatly valued by critics of our literature.
